Much like an actor plays various roles building a diverse body of work, we aim to do the same with the retail brands we partner with. Unlike a typical design firm that is known for repeating a specific look, Analog seeks to provide distinct design and strategic solutions unique to each brand. Not being married to a specific look allows us to genuinely invest in the best visual expression for each brand.

Strategize, Optimize and Plagiarize

When it comes to functionality and efficiency our motto is Strategize, Optimize and Plagiarize. First, we work with the brand to understand their business needs, skus and how they plan to run the store. This input from the client helps us synthesize a strategy.

Next up, we optimize. Given the specific needs, we work to optimize the layouts of both the front and back of house so that the functional needs are met.

Finally, we plagiarize. With years of experience under our belt we have learned that there are a lot of aspects of the store design that are repeated and consistent across many brands - no need to reinvent the wheel here. Examples would be storages systems, shipping and receiving desks, point of sale layouts and much more. This is where we copy. We pull from our thoughtfully developed library of tried and true standards. Not only are you getting truly vetted designs but you’re saving a lot of time that can be reallocated to focusing on the branded elements.

Stick to what you know

We know retail and that’s all we do. Opening a store is a serious business endeavor but at first blush can come off as more of a fun project. Mood boards, materials and renderings are a lot of fun - and we use them! However, we will spend just as much time, if not more, understanding your business. If the first thing you discuss with your retail designer is aesthetics, you’re missing out on a lot. We start with:

  • what are your goals?

  • how do you want the customer to feel when they visit?

  • what skus generate the most revenue?

  • what is most important to be visible to clients walking by?

  • how do you envision staffing the store?

  • How often are you replenishing stock?

…and much much more. These answers matter . Knowing the answers gives us a much clearer picture of what we need to deliver.

Retail Design is a true team sport. We have worked with some talented Millworkers, Architects of Record, General Contractors and other vendors and are happy to bring them to your projects. However, we love to collaborate with new talent. Have a strong creative director or favorite interior designer that really embodies your vibe? Great - we would be thrilled to work with them to bring the brand’s vision to life.

We hope that when your store opens its just the beginning of our partnership. We know brands are not stagnant and we want to partner with you as your business grows launching new categories or shifting focus. We work with brands to implement new category roll-outs and strategize how the new skus sit within the existing framework as well as future locations. WE can design and manage a strategic roll-out to ensure deployment of your new category is seamless and simultaneous.
